about

Maggs Bruchez

Otm Shank (pronounced "Oh-tum Shank") is the alter-ego of UK electronic music producer Rik Dobson and the visionary behind Pinkturban, a Los Angeles-based record label pioneering South Asian-influenced electronic music.

Otm’s infectious beats have been broadcast worldwide on leading platforms such as BBC 6 Music, BBC Asian Network, Rinse FM, and Sirius XM, and featured in DJ Mag, Mixmag, and Dummy Mag. His music has earned the support of global tastemakers including Joris Voorn, Martin Solveig, Carl Craig, Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer, Dom Dolla, and Shiba San.

Collaborations with renowned artists, including Ahadadream (Boiler Room), Talvin Singh (Mercury Prize Winner, OBE), Jey Kurmis (Hot Creations), ZDS (Dirtybird), and Bakongo (Roska Kicks & Snares), have further enriched his status as a standout artist in the underground scene.

Known for his signature blend of house music, Otm fuses Indian classical music and tabla rhythms with modern electronic beats, bridging East and West in a way that unites audiences worldwide. His exploration of Indian music is deeply personal, as he studies the tabla under his guru, Debasish Chaudhuri, nephew of internationally renowned tabla virtuoso Swapan Chaudhuri.

As a DJ, he has performed at iconic venues such as Ministry of Sound in London; events for high-profile brands such as BCBG, ABRACADABRA, and ITV; and festivals and warehouse parties across California. His high-energy sets take listeners on a journey around the world, often featuring live musicians such as tabla and sitar players and vocalists for an immersive experience.

Under Otm’s leadership, Pinkturban has become a thriving hub for global sounds, releasing music from artists such as Saqib, Fake Shamans, Evan Hatfield, Tâches, Goldcap, and Zuma Dionys. The label also hosts events worldwide, spreading their message of unity through music.
